January 2017 - March 2017

Happy New Year
We would like wish you all a Happy New Year and welcome you back after the Christmas break.

Here at Little Steps we celebrated New Year with the children and we looked at how they celebrate around the world. Many countries throw a party as celebration.

Happy New YearWe set up our own party house in the role play area. The Discoverers and Inventors danced, wrote invitations, make yummy party food and toasted to the New Year 'cheers'.

Our Topic in Action
The children have been reading Handas Surprise which is an insight to how people live in Africa with emphasis on race, animals and fruits grown there!

We visited Lidl with a shopping list from Handa’s book. The children searched for fruits and helped scan them through the checkout. Back at nursery, they created observational paintings and enjoyed a fruit preparation and tasting session - there we lots of squelched up faces when they tasted the limes!

The children helped wash, peel and chop the fruit with 1:1 supervision.
